The collection's color story was an "homage to human beings."
New York Fashion Week serves as the kick-off of what has been deemed "fashion month," a time when the world's fashion editors, stylists, celebrities and influencers jet from New York, to London, to Milan and finally Paris to see the latest collections from the an array of fashion houses, both large and small. While fashion month traditionally focuses on womenswear, Milan and Paris do have their own separate menswear fashion weeks at other times throughout the year. However, as New York Men's week no longer exists (why I am not quite sure), it has since been replaced with a New York Men's Day. This event, which is put on by Agentry PR, traditionally kicks off the first day of the New York Fashion Week and features the designs from several different menswear or co-ed brands through out the day.
The brands featured this season included B | M | C* (menswear), Terry Singh (menswear), and A.Potts (genderless). One of the great things about New York Mens Day is the collection of talent, often with very different aesthetics, allowing you to see a wide-range of trends happening in the menswear space at the moment. While you may not connect with all ten brands (listed below), all of the collections represent innovations happening in mens fashion, which is exciting.
B | M | C SS 2024 collection consisted of a looks primarily in black, white and cream, and highlighted the best in mens tailoring and suiting. While tailored pieces made up the majority of the collection, they were anything but standard, with some looks featuring shorts instead of traditional trousers, and blouse-like tops instead of the traditional button-down shirt. Terry Singh's collection featured a mix of traditional menswear mixed with classic womenswear pieces. Men's skirts were included in many of the collection's looks, often paired with tailored blazers and jackets in both solid colors and floral prints. A. Potts, a genderless brand designed by Aaron Potts, featured both male and female models dressed in looks that can be interchanged or worn in a more traditional manner. In addition to unique takes on both male and female silhouettes, the collection included groupings of looks consisting of great blocks of color, including bright orange and metallic gold, in addition to neutral color schemes which have been a part of the DNA of the brand for several previous seasons.
