Ranking My Top Three Resell Sites

Getting a pair of Jordan’s can sometimes feel just as hard as getting a Birkin.  OK, not really, but because many highly sought-after models of sneakers have become increasingly limited, sneaker resell sites have grown in popularity (and revenue).  Some sites in particular have become the go-to places for sneaker lovers to both buy and sell merchandise.  Below, I have ranked three popular resell sites….

GOAT/Flight Club

Founded in 2009, GOAT is considered one of the leaders in the sneaker resell game and merged with another resell stalwart, Flight Club, in 2018.  While GOAT does not offer physical locations (brick and mortar Flight Club locations are still in operation), it is known for its extensive selection of sneakers, particularly harder to find older models.  GOAT also offers the option of buying used versions of select sneakers and differing pricing models based on if a shoe is pre-verified and ready to ship, or if it must be sent to a facility for verification.  While GOAT’s prices are generally in line with that of other resell platforms, in recent years it has increased in its efficiency regarding shoe verification and shipment/delivery time.

StockX

While I have ranked GOAT number one, the most well-known sneaker platform has to be StockX.  Founded in 2015, StockX operates as almost an online stock market for sneakers and other sought after goods such as designer handbags and hypebeast gear.  Despite being unmatched in terms of the amount of merchandise they offer, the platform has received an increased amount of backlash over the last few years.  Recent increases in processing and seller fees have not sat particularly well with users. The platform has also been called out by many, including Nike officials, for incorrectly verifying sneakers and subsequently selling fakes. Despite these issues, StockX continues to be a go-to resource for sneaker lovers globally.

eBay

Sometimes referred to as the “black hole” because of its endless array of offerings, eBay has become a place for sneaker lovers to search for grails. The only company on the list that did not begin operation specifically as a sneaker reselling platform, eBay has since grown in popularity with sneaker heads. While more and more customers are looking to eBay for their sneaker purchases, specifically older models, pricing, shipping and reliability regarding issues such as authenticity can widely vary compared to that of StockX and GOAT. To address customer concerns around authentication specifically, eBay has recently included authentication services for sneaker purchases.
