The designer is putting his own spin on the brand's house codes.
Rhuigi Villasenor presented his star-studded Fall 2023 menswear show for Rhude in Los Angeles during the city's Grammy weekend festivities. The collection featured strong references to his youth (the gas station set harkened back to the days where the designer would hang out with friends, watching nice cars and dreaming of luxury). As those days have gone from dream to reality, his collection infused a mixture of luxury, thrift shopping, an ode to the early 2000's style and music aesthetic and...Lamborghini's. In fact, Lamborghini was branded on pieces featured throughout the collection. The collection showed Rhuigi's compelling ability to mix streetwear with elements of classic tailoring. As he is now also creative director of the Italian fashion house Bally, it will be interesting to see how this role impacts his work at his eponymous brand.
