It's time to level-up from JanSport.
Other than sneakers, watches are one of the most watched, no pun intended, areas of menswear. As more and more people begin to collect watches and the focus of menswear enthusiasts leans more and more toward very expensive or hard to get timepieces, it makes it harder for someone newer to menswear or watch purchasing to know accessible places to start. Don’t you worry, in this post you will find three great brands where you can find stylish, quality entry-level watches, no matter your budget.
Timex
A brand I like, which also is at the entrance of the entry level when it comes to watches, is Timex. Despite being at a lower price point, on average, than the other watch brands on this list, the brand offers a wide variety of styles ranging from $45 to $500. This is a great brand for anyone new to wearing watches and figuring out what styles, sizes and features work for them. A great Timex model to consider is the Waterbury Dive Automatic 40mm in stainless steel.

Seiko
A step up from Timex is Seiko. Seiko is a stalwart of the watch world and offers a range of models starting at about $200 and going up to about $6,800 (this does not include the Grand Seiko range which is more expensive). Aside from great quality, Seiko also has several models that are strikingly similar to more expensive timepieces found at luxury brands such as Cartier and Rolex. If interested in Seiko, I would suggest trying out the Prospex Land Model.

Cartier
The most expensive, yet storied brand on the list is undoubtedly Cartier. While Cartier is not specifically a watch brand, it has become known for its classic and elegant timepieces, some of which ranking among the most important models in watch history. While Cartier is generally not cheap, watches start at around $2,500 and can surpass the six figure mark, there are some entry-level models you should take a look at. One I love (and own) is the Cartier Tank Must. Not only is it a version the classic Tank range that will never go out of style, you can wear it day and night and it is on the lower end of the Cartier price point.
